I THINK THEY ARE MAD

Are you frustrated with how things are going so far? I know I am. But I also know that there are a few more people that are way more frustrated and upset then we are and it’s the people on the ice and behind the bench.

Watching last nights 6-1 loss to the Saints it was pretty evident in the 3rd period that everyone is kind of ticked at the way things are going these days. The ref didn't help things at all though and was clearly not able to handle a game that was in danger of getting out of control.

Thiess (Head Coach Mark Thiessen as he is known in the hockey circles) made some nice in-game adjustments yesterday. The offence was no where to be seen really in the first and he re-united Ronsberg, Peters, and Lazorko to start the 2nd and they were awesome. They know where each other is going to be and they just have such good chemistry together that it makes you wonder why he broke them up in the first place.

Let’s go back just a few games ago. The Flyers are on a three game winning streak with wins over the Saints, Terriers, and Blues. It was then that they decided to mix up all the lines and bring in a bunch of more guys. And what has happened since then? They are 1-3-1. So why the tinkering? Just leave it alone for a while until these guys get used to each other. Unless there is a deal that is out there that is so unbelievably awesome that you have to make.

And seeing the boys in the locker room and hearing the coaches after the game I sure wouldn’t want to be the Pistons tomorrow night. The Flyers are MAD!!!!!!

****note**** There are some other things that I would like you all to be aware of. Washington Capitals forward and Winkler native Eric Fehr has been awesome enough to do a weekly show on 1570 CKMW each and every Thursday afternoon at 4:15 cst called “From Capital Hill with Eric Fehr”. He talks about himself, how the Caps are doing and takes us inside the life on an NHL player. The reports will be available online very shortly. He also welcomes questions and comments which you can do by emailing him at capitalhillreport@gmail.com. If there is anything that you have ever wanted to know about an NHL player then here is your chance.

  1. I would have to agree with your view on tinkering with the lineup on a continual basis. Just bringing in players for the sake of bringing in players is not a good reason. If someone is brought in they should undoubtedly be better than the person they are intended to replace. There should be purpose behind the move. It looks like Winkler is in need of some solid d-men. With Suderman out we are icing a very young and inexperienced defence and could use some help there. They have two goaltenders with good potential but not a top notch starting goaltender. Most teams have from April to Sept to come up with a lineup. Why all the changes of personel less than a month into the season? Waiting around and basing the season on who may or may not be coming back from the dub is very counterproductive and doesn't instill confidence into the players who are currently on the team. Many probably feel like they are just stop gap measures until someone "better" comes along.
Lets hope everyone on the team ramps up their game and the coaches start to work with what they have a make a team out of the players , with all players knowing what their roles are. Lets give the players time to build some chemistry and work on some systems that take advantage of the type of players that are on the team. Players, you need to take some resposibility and make sure that you are putting out 110% every game not just parts of the game.
    Good Luck Flyers.

  2. Lets face it there is something seriously wrong with this team. We have been blown out to many times to think that everything will be ok. I wasn't at the game tonight, but it is not acceptable to be blown out by one of the worst teams in the league. My ownly question is what needs to be done to right this ship ????

  3. They may have been made but mostely they were selfish yet again as evidenced by the penalities, especially the five on three. No one was thinking of the team, they were playing only for themselves and look what happens, 9-2 to Steinbach....

  4. In Thiessen's commentary on the recent loss to Steinbach, he completely blames the goaltending; not one word about the selfish penalties and game evictions that his vets keep taking. It is hard to put up 100 points if you spend every game sitting in the box.

  5. Undisiplined. That would be the word to describe this team. Cam Stevens is the slowest defencemen in the league. I am surprised that anyone is very surprised when we go to camp and basically have the team picked, and it is mostly the same as last year, and expect different results than last year. Makes me wonder where some of the talent that left ended up? Why keep a spot for Caleb Suderman if he can't play, bring is some help? Keep in mind that this is the organization that cut Dustin Penner 3 times. Thiessen beats up on the goaltending, but penalties and poor defence really are the killer.
